Reminiscing 29th September 2010 - Azhaigalin Osai from Rameshwaram.

Again. I wish I could rewind yesterday - over and over again. I know, it sounds a little greedy, but who wouldn't want to, especially if the entire day turned out just the way you wanted it too. Note : Entire day.
Extra Note : Entire day is actually a continuation of the awesome 12th August 2010.

I am still reminiscing over yesterday. Still musing over it. Recollecting every moment. And, all the while, with a silly smirk and a gleaming grin. And, and - a spirited halo, right above my head.

I had an assortment of PBS, AMR, IR, KJY, SPB, YSR, VY and MB songs, parodying in my flourishing mind. Even, now, at this point, something from them is still being heard, although a little softer, than before. Accelerando, actually.

I love this song. It was not a celebrated number, but something about the lyrics and the soothing melody, made me a fan. And, Jeeva, is the lead. So, how can I not ??

Special Mention : VY stands for Vijay Yesudass. MB for Madhu Balakrishnan. Both sing wonderfully. Will write about the historical-to-me 29th September 2010, in depth tomorrow. Right now, I want to go to bed, smiling and yes, reminiscing. Again. Good night.

Nilavu Toongum Neram from Kunguma Chimizh

If I had to rate today within 10 points, then it would be awarded a 15 - by yours truly. Today was awesome. It was peachy, and dandy. I guess, when you anticipate the day with delight and joy, it comes around. I am just a few minutes away from dreamland. The cold, chilly weather - thanks to an entire day of heavy downpour - is going to make that trip even easier.

So good night and enjoy this song, that I have picked for today.

Kannamma Kadhal Ennum from Vanna Vanna Pookal

"......யாமறிந்த மொழிகளிலே தமிழ்மொழி போல் இனிதாவது எங்கும் காணோம்.........."
-Among all the languages we know, we do not see anywhere, any as sweet as Tamil-

Nothing soothes me as well as good, melodious Tamil songs. Especially, those with exalted and distinguished Tamil lyrics. I am so glad my father made me learn this beautiful language. So thankful. Despite being educated in an English school, I still relate to Tamil songs better, when it comes to the matters of the heart. Tamil seems so abstruse but in real fact, is, actually very lucid and comprehensible. Ask any Tamil enthusiast, and they will be obligingly explain.

Today was wonderful. Sometimes, just when you think, that the day will be just as norm as any other, something strikes you out of the blue. Something sweet and momentous. Something that makes you sit up straight and appreciate the day.

This song is a gem. Listen for yourself.

Paatha Kolusu Sattam from Shenbagam

This song, is like a flash from the past. When this song was released, compact discs were desolate. All we had, was the good old radio cassette. And, yours truly had an entire cassette with this song (only) in replay motion. It was a gift. How sweet... when I think of it now.... I guess, different people have different ways to express their emotions. In those days, technology was a wee bit slow. No e-mails, no skype, no FB's. Just snail mails and the regular stuff you get at gift shops. Now, oh gosh - the varieties are in abundance. But, in the end, it is always about the thought. That's what counts the most. Genuinely, I would prefer a bunch of Baby's Breath picked from the roadside, then a bouquet of Lily of the Valleys, which bloom once a year, and cost a hole in your pocket.

Tangathilae Oru Korai Irudalum from Baga Privinai and ........ (a bonus, read on...)

Soul-mates are people who bring out the best in you.  They are not perfect but are always perfect for you.  ~Author Unknown~

Isn't that beautiful ??? This song reminds me of what all a soul mate is. Someone who accepts you, flaws and all. Who loves to be with you, and hates to be without. Love is such a wonderful feeling, and to heap it in your heart, is even more wonderful.

I love this song. The lyrics emphasize on devotion, fondness and fidelity. Love, they say, is unfathomable, and I cannot help but agree.

One more, for today.... I wish, wish, wish, so much, I could have the video clip from the movie itself. The original one. This is one song that I drool over, even today. I know this song was released many, many years before I was even born - but it is, so awesome. Still, so awesome. So appeasing. The singer in this video does it pretty well, and the pianist is equally good.

Ennai Thottu Allikonda from Unnai Nenachaen Paattu Padichaen

There are a good number of beautiful Tamil songs that simply draw us to them - effortlessly. Like a child's play. They just bowl us over, and over, and over. The timeless ones, I would say. They appease you at any given time of the day. And, take the edge of you.

Ennai Thottu Allikonda from Unnai Nenachaen Paattu Padichaen, is what I have picked for today. This is such a stunning piece. I have been listening to this (only this) for the past hour, and as at now, it has managed to sweep me off my feet and got me all besotted.

Devan Kovil Deepam Ondru from Naan Padum Padal Tamil

A nice song from the good old days, back in the 80's or 90's, that popped in my head, this evening. Heard it somewhere, by chance. This movie was a little doleful but it had beautiful songs.

Weird, but, whenever I am offline, I have a hundred great songs on my mind, which remain celebrated, despite the years, but now, that I am actually here, I need to squeeze my brain out to think of one. Thankfully, there is this for today.

Pookal Pookum from Madharasapattinam

Heard this song a few times, prior to watching the movie. But, when I did, with special mention of the part where the song appears, I was bowled over. And, charmed. The entire movie, itself, calls for a standing ovation. A heartfelt applaud, that Tamil movies have come so far.

If Angadi Theru mesmerized me with the simplicity of life and love, Madharasapattinam gripped me with the power of patriotism, allegiance and the perplexity of love. And, the best part of it - Madharasapattinam was unblemished, free from vulgarity and congruous to everyone.

This song is magical. Bountiful and beautiful Tamil lyrics. I cannot seem to get enough of it.

Un Paarvaiyil Oraayiram ... from Kaloori

The original version was from Amman Kovil Kizhakale, sung by Chitra and KJ Yesudas. This one, however, is from the movie Kaloori.

Sometimes, the eyes, sing. They channel wonders. And, reveal, the depths of the heart. At times like these, words are inessential. This is practically what this video clip shows. Sometimes, when words fail you, the eyes speaks for itself....... Love is SURELY a splendorous thing. And, your eyes, speak a million words - silently - in that particular splendour. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......

Paatha Kolusu Sattam from Thitumathi Palanisamy

This movie was released somewhere around 1992, and this particular song was one of my favourites back then. Like the simple, narration of his lady love, by the hero. And, the catchy but gentle South Indian music.

Kanil Varum Kaatchi Ellam - Sangamam

I have been humming this song. The below mentioned part especially, .....

If you understand Tamil - this will put a smirk on your face and a beam in your heart...
Sometimes, love comes with wittiness...

Chithiram Pesudadi - Sabash Meena

Can I have one more song for today ?? An old number. Yet again. I wrote earlier, didn't I ?... that old Tamil songs keep me wide eyed. You do not need to be someone from the genres of Elvis - the King of Rock and Roll or Beatles or Lulu from To Sir With Love or Duran Duran or Backstreet Boys or Eminem or the present gothic Lady Gaga, to appreciate songs like these. These are forever. They hook you on and keep you there for always.  Old songs R-U-L-E - at least for me !!!!

Cheers, cheers, cheers !!!

Wide Eyed About Old Songs - Kanaa Inbam from Sabash Meena

Rain. How beautiful. Old Tamil songs. Equally beautiful. Both. Alluring. I am totally wide eyed when it comes to old songs. Thanks to my dad. And my attraction towards Tamil language.

This is plain but enchanting. The video is decent, clean and chaste. Despite, the rain.
