Poo Vaasam from Anbe Sivam

Anbe Sivam is definitely one great movie. No doubt about that despite it not being one the mass audience applauded in ovation. Sad, but so many good Tamil movies have gone without being acclaimed and this is one. However, to many good art and film enthusiasts, this movie was raved about. Kamal Haasan and Mathavan did a wonderful job as two strangers who meet and get to know each other through a self realizing journey.

Chinnap Paiyan Oruvan from Guru Ramana Geetham by Illayaraja

I have been to Tiruvanamalai and the famous Ramana Maharishi Ashram there. And, visited the beautiful Tiruvanamalai Shivan temple and watched the world acclaimed Girivalam procession. Everything there is simply mystical. Despite not getting acquainted to spiritualism, this song just brought zest into my life. I have been listening to it nearly everyday, now. This song is not purely devotional. It is about Guru Ramana's early days. Simply beautiful.

Thadakku Thadakku from Aathi

Another catchy number with clean lyrics that soothe the ears. Rain has been given such a prominent part in the Tamil film industry. The duet is beautifully sung by Hariharan and Sujatha. Hail the rain. The world needs more of it.

Kaatrinile Varum Geetham from Meera (1945)

Old songs are like rare gem. They are just hefty. Like this one. I was not even born when this song was sung. But, it is one that is so beautiful that it is bound to live forever. MS Subbulakshmi is a human nightingale that soothes the mind and heart.

Kaathal Neethana from Time

Monday blues.... Let me rejuvanate with something that will make me fresh and breezy, and that song which wins this situation is none other than Kaathal Neethana from Time. Listen to the lyrics. About love, when distance is an issue and waiting is a game.

Kanmaniye Kadhal from Aaril Irunthu Arupadhu Varai

One of Rajini's Sir's best movie to date, I believe. On how he struggled all his life for his siblings but was left unappreciated during the last days of his life. I thought the movie was a good one. Like this song. On love.

En Kadhal Solla from Paiya

This is what I am listening to, at present time. I like the foot tapping pop feel of the song. And, Yuvan's trademark husky voice. Na. Muthukumar sure has a flair for words.

Machaa Machaa from Silambattam

IR Sir has such a great voice. This one is has a catchy rhythm with beautiful rural feel lyrics.

Oh Thendrale Oru Paatu Paadu from Sandhana Kaatru

Second day of the Tamil New Year Vikkirthi. This song suddenly came to mind. Nice one, without much fuss.

Chinna Chinna Sol Eduthu from Rajakumaran

Happy Tamil New Year !!!! May the new year bring happy beginnings and be a very blessed and beautiful one. Cannot think of a suitable song for the occasion, but this is one soothingly soft but happy.

Mayil Pola from Barathi

The Great Bharathiyar. He fought for equality. That life is not about caste, colour and creed, but of compassion. He remains an icon to many Tamilians, yours truly included.
Bavatharani rocks. No one could have done this song better.

Kanavu Kanda Kaathal from Akbar

A great one from the 1960's. The sad and anticipating feel that P.Susheela-Ji puts in the song seems so real. Old songs reign .

Manjal Mugame from ABCD

A few more days before the Tamil New Year arrives. Tamil Nadu must be all geared up for the occasion and how I wish I could go there right away.
ABCD was a good movie which did not appeal to the mass, but the story had many positive values and is definitely something I would recommend very worthwhile.

Sinthu Nathi Chemeene from Ponumani

Some songs can bring you a sense of nostalgia. Watched this movie back then in the early 1990's. The music and the lyrics are so mesmerizing.

Madai Thiranthu from Nizhalgal

If TGIF stands for Thank God It's Friday, then WEWF stands for Wish Everyday Was Friday. I am all smiles, now that Friday is here. Staying up late and waking up even later is a weekend routine. This song puts me in a happy mood. Still prefer the original version and not the rap one. Fantastic Friday, have a fun one !!!

Thendral Urangiya Pothum from Petra Maganai Vitra Annai

I am always looking forward to Friday, even on a Monday. So, I guess I am a weekend person. Who isn't ? Unless they lack a life ?? I love weekends as I get to unwind and just enjoy the minutes pass by. Here, AM Raja & P. Susheela sing about the breeze in slumber and the feelings that come with a crazy thing called love.

Anbaale from Pasanga

This song touches on family sentiments. And how nothing is nicer than a good home where love is abundant. This song reminds me of my home and the wonderful environment I grew up in.

En Iniya Pon Nilavey from Moodupani

Monday - the manic one. When you feel that the days are long and winding, and you have so many more hours to work before the weekend finally arives.

When the mind is tired on a dreaded Monday, a song without much frills like this one soothes the situation.

Kaatrin Mozhi from Mozhi

My elder sister's birthday today. She has been my second mum. Always and still doting on me, despite me being very much an adult now. May she be blessed by the Almighty. May she have a good life filled with happiness, prosperity and good luck.

We celebrated her birthday at the strike of midnight. With closest family members, an iced, fat free, sesame seed cake and a loud birthday song.

This is one of my sister's favourite song.

Maangalyam from Alaipayuthey

Weekend. My little sister's wedding. How time flies. She was a kid some time back, and now, she is about to become someone else's wife. I pray for her best. May this newfound relationship bring her bliss and happiness, forever and ever.

I have actually posted this song prior to this. The entire album. Of Alaipayuthey. The movie reigns as numero uno for me. Posting it again for my lil' sis.

Naan Mozhi Arindhen from Kanden Kathalai

Watched this movie this evening. What a wonderful one. I got hooked on it within the first few seconds. Suresh Wadkar seems to be unknown, yet his voice in this song seems very polished and full of feelings. So hooked I have been, that I posted the YouTube version of the song on my facebook wall. Good songs alike these must be given more acknowledgement.

Ilavenirkaala Panjami from Manam Virumbuthe Unnai

I remember listening to this song many years back. I am no fan of both the lead actors in the movie and neither have I watched it, but this song's catchy lyrics is the main reason why I am fond of it.
