Aasaikonda Nenju Pesugindra Podhu from Irumbu Thirai

Happy Sunday morning, folks !!!! (despite it already being 12.15pm, here - and, no, I did not just wake up..... late mornings are not my cuppa).
This post was, rather unintentional. Somehow, this song made me, log in, and push a pencil. I mean, click a keyboard.
This is a super classic from the 1960 Irumbu Thirai. Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram's lyrics, SV Venkataraman's music arrangement and P. Leela- Ma's singing just go hand in hand. A merry song from the golden era.
And, ya, note the coveting lyrics !!!!!
Tuesday, Labour Day, will be a national holiday. That means, this week, will be a 4-day one, again. Yippie. I love holidays.
Holidays mean so many things to me. Unwinding, cooking, gardening, watching a great movie and just chilling out with family and friends. We should all have more of these. Not work. Not climbing the corporate ladder and calculating wages. Life should be more of things that make us happy and rarely of things that make us haywire.
Go enjoy the week !!! I am, too.
Take care, God Bless.

Kooraana Parvaigal from Thoonga Nagaram (Re-Post)

உனக்கென உடை உடுத்தணும்
உனக்கென தினம் சமைக்கணும்.....
உன் மடியினில் சாயணும்
மரணம் வரை வாழணும்.....
Monsieur Cupid has been extremely generous with me this couple of days. He seems to be striking me continuously.
Realized two things this beautiful week.
One. Valentine’s Day doesn’t just come in February. It also comes in April. I am, living proof.
Two. Valentine’s Day NOT need be JUST ONE DAY. It can be a couple of days. In my case, it was 3, and I am keeping my fingers crossed, it will continue.
I do not need to elaborate who it is that makes me this ecstatic and delirious. Many of my posts are dedicated to him. The one who puts a Cheshire cat grin on my face (….like now…..). I am still in seventh heaven. Still in celestial throne.
My heart keeps singing this particular song. I guess I have posted it before. Somehow, the lyrics just sync with my present situation. Awesome lines by award winning Tamarai. This one is solely, dedicated to -

Yenna Solla Yethu Solla from Manam Kothi Paravai

An unbearably hot day. And, not to mention an awful internet connection day.
Thank God, I get to find some solace in the chilled mango pudding, I made yesterday evening. Heavenly - to my taste buds - as is, the now playing Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know, to my ears.
I made the long due lemon muffins, this morning. Finally. And, they turned out great. Amma, my No.1 connoisseur, said so. She is someone who calls a spade - a spade. You get what I mean? So, I guess, they were all right. She even asked me if I wanted to go for baking classes. They have one, in a bakery nearby, she adds. Hmm.. let me think about it.
Cooking is simply animating. It spruces up that normal day of ours.
I watched Oru Kal Oru Kannadi last night. I thought it was a huge drag and a big let down, in comparison with Siva Manasula Sakthi and Boss Engira Baskaran. This would be, to me, a one time only watch. Unlike the former ones, which I could do a hundred more rounds with.
This is very new song. Something that has yet to catch, much attention. But, it will, once the movie hits the floor. Such an alluring number. One that plays on my mind - unaffectedly. Thanks to its gushing lyrics.
So, that's all for now, I guess.
Have a great week ahead. See you real soon....

Mudiyumenral Padiyaathu from Missiamma

Nine Words Women Use
1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the football before helping around the house.
3. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
4. A Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer quickly to No 9 for the meaning of nothing.)
5. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
6. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot', which is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' - that will bring on No. 7).
7. Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying, something nasty.
8. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to No. 4.
9. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in "Fine".
Hahaha. We, women, ARE indeed hard to understand. But that, makes us.
And, the song for today is all about it.
Of what women say, and what they mean, in Tamil. Guess, we are universal.
Take care, God Bless and have a great week ahead, ya !!!!

Vechalum Vekkama Pogathu from Michael Madana Kama Rajan

எனது இனிய நந்தன தமிழ் புத்தாண்டு நல்வாழ்த்துக்களை......
Ya - everyone, Happy Tamil New Year !!!!! Today is the birth of Nandana !!!! At 8.18pm, here in Malaysia.....
Guess what ? I got a gift today. Something special. Super special, actually. A beautiful ring. For the New Year.....
My sore throat became worse along the week. The constant dry cough has made me practically, voiceless. I sound like a toad croaking for rain.
Mum had already set her condition for the new year. That, we must be vegetarian. I was, honestly. Throughout - the whole day. It is no big feat for me. I have stayed vegetarian for years. Back while I was in uni. And, yearly, in the month of Purattasi, for the One I so revere, Lord Tirupathi. It is just that I have skipped being a vegetarian on Fridays. Mum is particular about being vegetarian at least once a week, and in our home, it is the day before Saturday.
Mum cooked a feast today. And called in our close relatives to join us for dinner. Right now, I feel like a python in the zoo, which has been fed with two whole buffaloes, and left to rest. This is what I had. Rice and saambar with a bitter leafy vegetable, pumpkin, mint chutney, potatoes, mashed brinjal, mango chutney, Thai styled mango Kerabu, onion vadais, kesari and payasam.
Listening to a weird English song that I am somehow, actually, mesmerized, with. Heard this on American Idol, yesterday. A duet by my 2012 favourite contestant, Philip Philips. The original song was sung by Gotye and features Kimbra.
Need to think of a happy song - befitting the occasion. A flirty one from Michael Madana Kama Rajan.
Did you know that Kushboo's name was Shalini, in this movie ?????
Good night, and Happy Tamil New Year everyone. Lets all stay blessed.

Unnakaaga Ellam Unnakaaga from Puthayal

A super sunny Sunday over here. My sore throat is very much better. Hope it eases off before Monday comes a calling.
http://ummon.wordpress.com/2012/03/11/a-tag/This full of pep blog, is on my reading list. And, today, I came across the blogger's post titled, simply, "Tag". I have a thing for tags. You know, a mild level of fixation. I find them interesting. And, enthralling.
In response to her post, I am going to be lazy, answer her questions and not do anything else.
So, here we go.....
The 11 questions tagged to the blogger
1. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To be able to read another's mind. We always say things we do not intend to. I could save the day (many of days, actually) with this superpower.
2. What was your favourite childhood television program?
Hmmm..... reruns of Alf. I thought that
furry but cute alien, had a lot to say.
3. Have / had any celebrity crushes ?

Of course. Richard Dean Anderson of MacGyver. And, Will Smith. Now, it is Dhanush.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

India. Still. Despite my countless visits there, the infinite country continues to charm me. And Greece (despite the turmoil and financial crisis) and French Polynesia's Bora-Bora Island.
5. Name 1 thing you miss about being a child.

Getting my way with absolutely, everything. I am the youngest and was doted upon. The trick does not work now, though.
6. Name the one comic/book character that you loved the most and why?
But I loved, absolutely loved, books. And one of my favorite characters then was Jo of Little Women - as written by the blogger.

I never read comics. But books, yes. Lots. From Enid Blyton's to Jane Austen's. And, my all time favourite book IS Little Women by Louis May Alcott. And, Jo was my favourite character, too.
7. What is the one thing that you are dying to try but haven’t had a chance to do so yet ?
Moving to India, as in M-O-V-E not V-I-S-I-T. Many people are against the idea and are constantly discouraging me. But, it is what I would love to do but do not have the chance to do, yet.
8. Do you have a role model – someone you want to emulate? Whom do you admire the most?

My father - undoubtedly. For teaching me great life pointers. I so miss him.
9. What do others make of you?
That I am talkative - only, with people I know. I am.
10. Have you ever gotten into a fight or punched someone ?

I am not audacious. Arguments, yes - to prove the point. But fights, none. Punched someone, never. Made a punch ? Ya. A non-alcoholic party punch with pineapples, watermelons, lychees, peaches and oranges. Wink, wink.....
11. For Girls – If you woke up tomorrow to find out you are Brad Pitt, what would be the first thing you’d say upon looking in the mirror???
OMG !!!! I have become Mrs Jolie :-P
The blogger's 11 questions

Dorathy and Paulina.
2. How did you meet?

In school. From day one.
3. How long have you known him/her?

For ages.
4. Name an embarrassing crush, one you would hesitate to accept in public. But will now.

Cannot remember of one...... (slyly)
5. A man/woman from history you would have proposed to.

A.M Rajah - the South Indian singer with the honey sweet voice. Had he said yes, would have made him sing to me every night without fail. Hahahaha.....
6. Name an international city that you feel is over-rated.
Hong Kong. Noisy and bustling to the brim. Definitely, over-rated.
7. An Indian dish that is over-rated.

The tandoori. We have got so many other great food.
8. What do you think of same sex marriage?

A BIG No-No. Weird.
9. Reality shows are:……………..

The 'in' thing now. We are all hooked on them.
10. Designer clothes are:……………

For people who have too much of money and do not know how to finish them. Apologies, Oscar De La Renta and Karl Lagerfeld, for designing them. :-P
11. Illayaraja or A R Rahman?

Illayaraja, Illayaraja, Illayaraja (and echoing......)
This was nice, wasn't it?
I am letting you know superficial stuff about me. Great starters, right ?
Amma is calling me to have tea.
Take care, God Bless and have a great week ahead.....

Oru Thadavai Sollvaaya from Vaseegara

Happy Saturday, everyone !!!!!
Did log in last night to write a new post - but, argh, the internet connection was unbelievably bad. Thank God, though, that it is kinder now.
Yours truly is down with a dreadful sore throat. Months since I had one which was this harsh. But, will be visiting the doctor in the next few hours, so I guess all will be well.
Was supposed to go watch "3". Again. For the third time, with my closest girl friends. Marred by the pharyngitis, however.
The coming week will be a four day one. The new King' s coronation comes this Wednesday, thus another national holiday. Yippie !!! And, the Tamil New Year, - Nandana - welcomes itself this Friday. Wonderful, isn't it ?????
Song for the day. The lyrics go, " ஒரு தடவை சொல்வாயா , உன்னை எனக்குப் பிடிக்கும் என்று, ஒரு பார்வை பார்ப்பாயா, உன்னை எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் என்று?????"
See ya around !!!!!
