Mum told me they are playing Alaipayuthey this Wednesday, July 13th at 9pm. I am overjoyed and resilient. Thanks Astro Vanavil (Channel 202). You better screen the movie on the said date and time. I am an Alaipayuthey aficionado. A fanatic, enthusiast of the Tamil epic. Reruns of this movie seem inadequate to me. I adore this movie heaps, thousands and tons. If there is a single movie that elevates my heart, soul and senses - this is it. My version of serotonin.
This video is done tastefully with different hues. The audacity is mind blowing. Maniratnam Sir's forte and strength, lies in his finite dialogues and limitless illustration. My chosen line for today.

Nirpathuve Nadapathuvey from Bharathiar
9th of July 2011. Woke up about 7am to the sound of rain and thunder and the feel of a cold bed and a warm blanket. Another touchstone in the Malaysian political scene. Being approximately 350kms away from the national capital, I found content in watching and reading the up-to-dates on the web. And, not to mention, the expeditiousness of social plugins. What as supposed to be a nonbelligerent march was blown out of proportion. The government could have avoided the melodrama and schmaltz, by giving the permit for the march.
Winston Churchill could have not said this better.
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
Good day, everyone.

Akkam Pakkam Yaarumilla from Kireedam
My lyric pick for today comes from Kireedam. So, does the song. A moderately good movie.
Wish I had more time to blog. More time to unwind. More time to appreciate the little things in life. More of weekends and less of weekdays. More of idling and less of employment. LOL. Laugh out loud. That seems so lackadaisical. Too laid back. But it can only be wishful thinking, right ? No harm done. Greedy and hankering but that is about it.
I love Friday nights. I take delight in knowing that the following two days will be spent taking a breather. And, if you were wondering - no - I do not spend my weekends doing sock hops or discos. Home is my sanctuary. My favourite place to mellow out. The beach comes next in line. Happy weekend everyone.

Ninaithadhu Yaaro from Paattukku Oru Thalaivan
This song snapped and spouted from oblivion. Blame it on my oscillating mood. Charge it on my coveted state of mind. Attribute it to what happened today - last week. 29th of June 2011. The day starts with a glance, a glimpse, whatever. I do not know if it was deliberate, but it happened. The start was unplanned. I dismiss the short episode and take slower steps towards my routine path. He gazes from afar. We are at close quarters. He asks me something. Pass. Something akin. I nod. Stillness fills the air. He turns around to ask - again, the same question. Pass. This time around I utter a yes. Hush-hush. We are nearer now. Circumstances. He obliges and offers to help. Pass. I decline with an ethical thank you. Hush-hush and hush. He turns around to say bye. I nod. Period. Aeon. The entire scene was awkward and floundering. And, I do not want to risk construing it further.
I am fine. I am passable and peachy keen. In the midst of drawing a blank, this song cajoles me. How stumbling.
Not a line today. More than that. Necessity, to make plain, the rues of yours truly.

Oru Naal Vidu Murai Nee Eduthaal from Doo (2011)
Today is a retrospection of March 5th 2011. Exactly 4 months later.
We are on our way back from KL. The training session ended late evening. It was raining cats and dogs as we drove out of the nation's capital. We had not spoken to each other, since I went in for training, and he, to work. We did, earlier, though. About 7am - when I woke him up and shared those beautiful sweet nothings. How beautiful they seem, even now - months down the lane. The highway is spectacular. I doze off in the back seat. About 9.30pm, I reach out for my mobile to call my brother. The call does not pass through. Weird. Instead, a call comes in. His. I am, as always, all smiles, at the very glimpse of his name popping on my mobile screen. Mogan. He asks me, why I did not pick up the two calls he gave me earlier. This is his third. I like his chagrin. His effort and concern. They feel and sound sweet. I tell him, I slept off. Tired. He asks me, where I am. I tell him. A state capital. He asks me, if I would like his sister, come fetch me there. I laugh. I tell him I will be there soon. He can come fetch me, himself. We exchange, sweet nothings. I promise to send him a sms once I reach home - no matter what time. The sweet nothings continue. I cannot remember them well, now, but they were all beautiful. So, very beautiful. I miss him - lots - today. Back then, on that day, I was star struck and smitten. About half an hour later, I send a message to his mobile. That, I will be there before he goes to sleep. His exact words. This time, from me to him. My drive back home, was delightful. Thoughts of him filled the recesses of my heart. How can I not be - thrilled and beaming. The felicity continued the following day. He calls in the afternoon. We talk for a short while. Cannot remember much of it except that it was all beautifully blissful.
I miss a lot of people. He is among them. I miss a lot of things. The moments we shared.
Good night.

Poo Maalaiye from Pagal Nilavu
Happy July everyone. We have cruised half the year. Let's get ready to glide through the next six.
I want to post a-close-to-heart-line from Tamil songs to my every blog this month. Starting with this.
A beautiful number from Pagal Nilavu. An original IR composition which blows the mind away right from the start. The orchestra's first 25 minutes is astounding. The collaboration and twining between the male and female singer is breathtaking. A yes song to fellow music lovers. Enjoy. Savor.

Margazhi Thingal from Sangamam
Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will.
Let's bade June goodbye. Let's say hello to July. The last 30 days have been low pitch, plain but sweetly, serene. I am content with this beautiful life the Almighty has given me. I am thankful to Him for everything - good and not so good.
Found solace in listening to this carnatic number. And, optimism in its lyrics.
I have a few chores that I need finish in July. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope to have them all clinched and sealed. Chores. Not resolutions.
Cheers to the 182nd day of the year. Stay happy. All through the year.

Anbinalae Aala Vantha from Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum
June went by rather slow. For me. Today is a day away from July. And, we shall, soon bid goodbye to half year. So fast - where time is concerned. Don't you agree ?
I have so many things on mind. Staples that I need to abide by. However, the 2011 New Year Resolution list is somehow displaced. Forget that. Who ACTUALLY keeps them? No. Not the list. The resolutions, I mean.
Watched Aaranya Kandam during the weekend. I thought it was one great piece of art. The ultimate Tamil gangster movie. The story spreads out unexpectedly. A Tamil eye opener. Enjoyed the entire movie despite the violence, crudity and lewdness.
Found this rare number on YouTube, and am presently in high spirits. This song put me there. Love does that. To all of us. Puts us in a state of bliss and joy.
Aged but equally fascinating. The one - my Morgiana heart sings to Junior Ali Baba.

Yaaradhu Yaaradhu (1964) from En Annan
Been watching lots of cooking programs of lately. Food has always been a passion. Cooking rejuvenates - just like shopping and enjoying nature. TopChef and Nigella Bites are among my favourites. Due to the fact that their recipes are easy and prepared in a short time. Nothing ornate. None painstaking.
I am back to old songs. They are truly beautiful to listen to, aren't they ? This is an excellent example. A whiz bang with convincing and discerning lyrics. A dramatized, cross-examination on love. How bizarre but agreeable.

Mani Osai Kettu from Payanangal Mudhivathilai
Monday is here. The day everyone dreads. The one that we all want to pass as soon as possible. Why else would we call it Manic Monday ? The schitzy second day of the week.
I wish I could write about the sensibilities of my sighing heart. I do not know if the words would flow as they do in soul. But, I wish they would be able to decipher my cluelessness. Isn't it apt that I am mumbling such claptrap on a Monday? The manic and lunatic one. No, not me. The day. It is easier to pass the blame to something inanimate and that does not retort.
This song is faultless. Painstakingly poignant. A good evangelist to a rattled spirit.
I miss him. And, I miss him. My father. And, Mogan. Both. Tremendously. I am behaving like I don't at all - conspicuously. Trying to be stouthearted. The actual pining is neatly concealed. I am a Scorpio. We are good at putting a false front despite having our spirits all marred and mauled.
"........கண்ணன் பாடும் பாடல் கேட்டு ராதை வந்தால் ஆகதோ
ராதையோடு ஆசைக் கண்ணன் பேசக் கூடாதோ ???........."
These lines are enough to unravel the voidness he has left behind. May the Almighty help me through this. Good night.

Kangalin Vaarthaigal Puriyatho from Kalathur Kannamma
Kalathur Kannamma - the movie that introduced Kamalhaasan, to the world. For me, it has my all time favourite love song from bygones. The one that I hum on a happy day, and sing on a happier one.
The lyrics of this song are plain awesome. A beautiful duet, that I have heard countless times, and never got bored of. Old songs, they say, are evergreen. This is a good example.
A Sunday night over here. I hope you take time to enjoy this song. It is a happy number from seasoned times. Definitely a favourite of yours truly. Thanks to Appa - for instilling my love for old Tamil songs. Nitez, everyone. Hope your dreams will be tuned as happy as this.

Engiruntho Vanthaayada from Five Star
Saturdays go by in a flash. Today, did too. An hour before this beautiful first day of the weekend ends....
Memory is a child walking along a seashore. You never can tell what small pebble it will pick up and store away among its treasured things. ~Pierce Harris~
I love this song. It is, one, from, my small number of favourite movies. Kaniha was the epitome of an unpretentious South Indian bride. She sweeps Prasanna off his feet. The story unfolds beautifully. A very good watch, with a you-decide-for-your-self ending.
Soothing, gentle and gracious. About the languishing and yearning heart. And, nostalgia, memories and reminiscence.

Dheemthanakka Thillana from Villu.
Friday. My favourite day. My sister and I have big plans for tomorrow. The entire nation is having sales. We plan to join the crowd. So, I am in a happy mood. Not just because of the calming therapy, shopping is going to give me tomorrow, but also due to the fact, that it is, after all, everyone's favourite day. And, the fact, that I get to sleep a little longer when Saturday dawns. Happy mood equals a happy song. Not one as happy as my one and only, favourite 'kuthu' song from Aadukalam, but something of that genre. I chose this. A foot tapping number with weirdest of lyrics. Something that you will surely forget with time but one that will put you in a bizarre state of mind. At least, for a Friday night. Enjoy your weekend. May the next 48 hours be as happy as weekends should be. God bless!!

Evano Oruvaan Vaasikiran from Alaipayuthey
Never, will I get tired of Alaipayuthey. Not at any time. Not by any means. This is my favourite movie. My best-loved, front runner, all time favourite. I have watched it plenty of times. Definitely more than 50, in all. 7 at the cinemas. And the remaining - on original DVD. Absolutely and doubtlessly. But, it always feels like I am watching it for the first. Always an amusement. Forever a charm. The perfect Tamil love story. An epic from the great Maniratnam.
This is one of my favourite scenes in the movie. I shed tears of joy every time I watch this particular scene. It is just so unquestionably, deeply and authentically romantic. An ultimatum for a Scorpio like me.
This song is one close to heart. The late Swarnalatha-Ji delivered this number, with impressive emotions. If you can understand Tamil, the lyrics of the song, will just blow your mind.

Kanmani Anbodu from Guna
It is indeed a wonder, how a song as simple as this - minus immense musical instruments and a world class orchestra - manage to enchant so many of us. Diaphanous kind of song. Only Maestro IR can create such magic. This is a beautiful Tamil song that comes with an equally merry animation.
This, is, of course, a re-post. I love this song. Would have definitely posted it sometime early into blogging. A must listen when my heart feels like it is walking on air. Like now. Like today. Nothing whirlwind. No brouhaha. Yet, I am. Walking on air. Over the moon. In seventh heaven. All three unlikely - but the emanation of this song makes them possible. Nitez.

Thandhane Thandhana Thandhane from Kathavarayan
Reminiscing over Appa. Still. He loved Chandrababu. I do, too. Just because Appa did - in the beginning. Gradually, I, too, became engrossed with him. For my own reasons. His sense of humour, his singing and dancing antiques, his acting abilities and his blithe, buoyant, footloose and fancy free attitude.
Chandrababu. An interest Mogan and I shared - recently. He is, alike me, someone from Generation Y. The Millennial Generation. But, Chandrababu, is a figure, that he, too, delights in. The fact, that he did, impressed and awed, me. I liked the solidarity we shared. It was few and far between. Not probable, I assumed. He gave credence.
Listen to this one. I bet you want to smile. Peppy and perky, this one will tickle you pink. Hope you enjoy it you as much as I do. Chandrababu is cute. Semma cute. Yet again. The word I so like to say, of lately. Cheers, people.

Aaruyire Manipaaya Sollu from Guru
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. ~Marcel Proust~
We rarely take time to appreciate people who really mean the world to us. To be approving of their views. To be gratified of their presence. To be pleased with their affection. And, to be thankful for having them - in every step of our lives.
This is such an awesome number. It just drenches you with emotions. A.R Rahman, Chinmayi & Kwadher's background ghazal easily, tranquilizes the heart. So beautifully said - in the sweetest of languages - Tamil. My mother tongue. My Tamil. அஹிம்சை முறையில் நீயும் கொள்ளாதே..... means 'Do not torment me with your silence'.....
Love is something that needs to be uttered at times, and concealed at others. But, something that must be present at all times - come what may.

Oorellam Un Paatuthan from Oorellam Un Paatuthan
A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again. ~Enid Bagnold~
There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. ~John Gregory Brown, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery, 1994~
Father's Day. For me, every day is. So many years since my beloved Appa's passing - but he is omnipresent in my life. The one I talk to and think of at all times. My Appa. My hero. My life's protagonist. My everything. My Numero Uno. For always. No other male species would be able to come close. Even Amma (Mum) is number two in my life. Appa rules. Always did. Still does. For a girl - her dad is everything, as a mother is to a boy. Agree ?
Watched Gulebagavali somewhere last week. The South Indian equivalent of Indiana Jones. It reminded me of the times, Appa and I shared. We loved watching and listening to classic Tamil movies. My adoration for these was instilled by him. If I know, watch, listen and sing anything Tamil from pristine times, it is all thanks to him.
I miss him - this Father's Day. Actually, I miss him everyday. Every second. He doted on me from day one. Amma, on the other hand, was the disciplinarian. The one who was stern with her set of strict family rules and regulations. Yours truly was, indeed, the most mischievous of the lot. Appa was my saviour. My redeemer. I always had it my way, with Appa, and, no such, with Amma. Mum is very important but Appa reigns.
I do not need an annual Father's Day to wish him. Every day is between him and me. I wake up to a bedside photo of him carrying me in his arms - when I was around 5 or 6. I do not think anyone else could and would ever be able love me the way he did. I know he still does. He is in heaven, I know. But he is watching over me - at all times. That, too I know. His presence is firm and uncompromising.
India - is another subject that I hold close to my heart - courtesy of Appa. The stories he told me. The narrations he gave me. It is and will continue to be the country, we both love, as our very own. The nation where my soul resides.
I wanted to post a song by Chandrababu. We both adored him, heaps. But, this song, the one I am listening to right now, is what I have decided to, instead. The lyrics were so poignant. So intense.
This, is for Appa. My Appa. The greatest.
The Swarnalatha version. The whimsical version.

God bless your soul, Pa. Thanks for everything. Your love keeps me going.
The IR version. Heartrending.
The Swarnalatha version. The whimsical version.
Solaai Malai Oram from Villupaatukaran
Today is 18th of June 2011. If there is one song that will be apt for the day - it is definitely this. A love composition by the Maestro himself, and sung by the great SPB-Ji and S. Janaki-Ma.
My first encounter with this song - was way back - in 1992. Ya, 1992. Nearly 19 years later - and this number continues to ring a bell. Most of IR's melodies do. He is, indeed, the music genius, of Tamil Nadu.
It is a quiet Saturday over here - in Malaysia. I am listening to what else but, Solai Malai Oram. This symbolic number has a been an esteemed number since those days. Had a thing for the lyrics of the song and its fetching melody. Still have.....

Orey Oru Vaarthaikaaga from Venghai (2011)
Wanted to blog so much last week. Unfortunately, couldn't find the time. Glad have managed to - this week around. Despite, today - being a hectic one.
Listened to the soundtrack of 'Venghai'. The Dhanush-Tamanna movie yet to be released. Most of the songs are good. And, sure to be, hits with the mass. Trust me. Some songs are just meant to be sensational. 'Venghai' has a number of them - which will be.
So, guess you know, what I want to post today. One of 'Vengai'. Yes, I am a Dhanush fan. No doubt on that. I like him for the person he is. And, the fact, that, he acts - too. Kathal Konden, Devathaiyai Kanden, Puthupettai, Yaradi Nee Mohini, my favourite Aadukalam and Seedan are good examples.
Real life couple, Tippu and Harini do justice to Orey Oru Vaarthaikaaga. The one I am listening to right now.... .Nice.....

Thevan Teerpendrum Puthiraanathu from Nee Pathi Naan Pathi
A late Saturday night, over here in Malaysia. I am listening to replays of an old song from 90's titled Alli Alli Veesuthama. Vague, if I have posted it before.
Fromm said this - "Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies.." So right as rain. Life is never easy. Not for anyone - including the all those nouveau riche listed on the Forbes. But, this life. It goes on - despite the downs and all. The ups keep us sailing high.
I watched this movie many years back - while I was still in school. When love was inaccessible and remote. And, purely hypothetical. But, this love story left me startled - and, not to mention, puzzled. Love seemed everything but reassuring - in this one. I cried, of course. Despite the fact that love was abstract, at that point of time. This particular song comes last in the movie - but the one, most beautiful. The perfect combo of Dr. K.J Yesudass's voice, Maragathamani's composition and Vaali's lyrics. An emotional number that you must give a try. Good night.

Oru Malaiyoram from Avan Ivan
The above lyrics say it all - in my Tamil language that I so love and regard high of. Beautiful. The lyricist of this song is chiming all I want to say to him.
Einstein said that gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love. What is - then ? The chemistry is so correct. The pull is so perfect. The allure is amazing. The magnetism is so magical. The unuttered is so unprecedented......
Going to bed - with introspections of him and this song playing in orchestra mode. All smiles. Nitez.

Un Uruvam Kaanbathenral from Kaaviyam
Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam. The great SP Bala-Ji. The one with the virtuous voice. The only playback singer in India to have won National Film Awards across four languages. He has sung more than 40,000 songs in more than 15 different Indian languages - including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi,Malayalam, Marathi, English, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Tulu, Sanskrit, Assamese, Konkani, Badaga and Gondi. Amazing isn't it ? This admirable soul turned 65 on 4th of June, and I pray from the depth of my heart for his happiness and well being.
I was there in Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai on February 13th 2011, when he was the special guest in this Pre-Valentine concert. He was humble, affectionate, kindhearted and thoughtful in person. A charming prodigy. God bless this great singing superstar.

The bitterness and dejection that he delivers sounds so real and authentic.
An Unknown Author said this, "When love is lost, do not bow your head in sadness; instead keep your head up high and gaze into heaven for that is where your broken heart has been sent to heal...". Found it very comforting. No, I do not have a broken heart. Mine is all hale, healthy and happy. It is just bolstering to know that a broken heart is actually sent to God. He heals - anything. Believe Him. Staunch faith moves mountains.

Vanna Tamil Pennoruthi from Paavai Vilaku
Don't you dare skip this song. That is why it is posted above - unlike any of my others. It is an evergreen. By the great C.S.Jayaraman. One that I cannot say no to. One you should definitely say yes to. Give it a try. Do not let old songs put you off. This is a gem. A glorious number from yesteryears. A must listen. A one that will make you smile- impulsively. An epitome of the Tamil sweetheart -the andric version. Good night.
Kathal Adaimazhai Kaalam from Aanmai Thavarael
Slept early yesterday. Very much earlier than my normal Fridays. I am very fond of this day of the week. It calls to attention that the next 48 hours of mine is going to be about repose and re quiescence. And, stronger bed gravity.
Right now, I am listening to Vizhigalile Vizhigalile from Kulla Nari Kootam - yet again. With a bewitching tune and wondrous lyrics, how can I say no to a beautiful piece like this.
I have become hooked to Tweeter. Find it rather, amusing. I am not sure how long this enthusiasm will last, but it is now, all empyrean to me.
I am deprived of ideas. On the song to post for today. Blame it on fatigue. Been a little busy since morning. This one comes to mind, first. Kathal Adaimazhai Kaalam. Watched and heard it on SunMusic this evening. Thought it was pleasant.

Mama Mama Un Ponnu from Boss Engira Baskaran
Those who can laugh without cause have either found the true meaning of happiness or have gone stark raving mad. ~Norm Papernick~
Papernick forgot to cue in, one more. Those who can laugh (and smile and talk to themselves) without cause have either found the true meaning of happiness or have gone stark raving mad or are just plain in love. Agree ? Ask anyone who has been in that shoes. The shoes of being in love. It might have toned down with time, but the ground breaking moments would have been exactly that. Irrational laughter (and smiles) - in barrels, heaps and piles.
I am uttering this once again. The kuthu genre has never been my cup of tea - with an exception of my all time favourite Ottha Sollale from Aadukalam. The one I am posting today is of that genre. I like it for putting me in a happy, breezy mood. Thanks to its awesome feet tapping rhythm. And, semma cute lyrics.
Semma cute. Meaning, very cute. Semma cute is a word I use lots nowadays. He is one. Semma cute. I told him about him being one, last week. He was oblivious to is. How cavalier !!! But, I am happy. I want to be happy. This song keeps me.
Come - enjoy this one with me. Good day, mate !!

Kaatril Varum Geethamey from Oru Naal Oru Kanavu
The great gift of family life is to be intimately acquainted with people you might never even introduce yourself to, had life not done it for you. ~Kendall Hailey~
I am blessed. With a wonderful family. And, I thank Him - for giving me a terrific one. This song reminds me of family. An extraordinary Carnatic one from the great IR.
Spend some quality time with your family today. Ya. No one stands by you, like family. The strongest of institutions.

Katrile Katrile from Madraspattinam
I Would Ask For Still More
If thou speakest not I will fill my heart with thy silence and endure it.
I will keep still and wait like the night with starry vigil
and its head bent low with patience.
The morning will surely come, the darkness will vanish,
and thy voice pour down in golden streams breaking through the sky.
Then thy words will take wing in songs from every one of my birds' nests,
and thy melodies will break forth in flowers in all my forest groves.
Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore. He penned them both. So very comforting. I like the alleviation it gives me. I miss my father. My India. And, a whole lot of things. Of mortal sense and sensibility. So perplexing. So constantly changing. If only I could comprehend them - life would be a breeze.
I miss the country where my soul resides. My Bharatha Maatha. She awed me from day one. Still does. Love this song. For reminding of India. For 01:30 to 01:40.
I would ask for still more, if I had the sky with all its stars, and the world with its endless riches; but I would be content with the smallest corner of this earth if only she were mine.......
PatienceIf thou speakest not I will fill my heart with thy silence and endure it.
I will keep still and wait like the night with starry vigil

Maraka Mudiyavilai from Jaathi Malli
This song is NOT a love song - like the title suggests. It is a beautiful, decorous and nostalgic one, on things we cannot forget. Unornamented, I would say. Was browsing through YouTube, when this popped up. Watched the movie, many years back - while I was still at school. Cannot remember much about the movie - but, this song.
Lyrics I cannot forget ? Five. As stated below, in the language I so love - Tamil.

Oru Kanam Oru Yugam from Nadodi Thendral (Re-post)
IR and Janaki-Ma mesmerize in this number. Beautiful Tamil lyrics. Love the part, when the Maestro weaves in his magical voice at 03:05, the silence and the continuation he gives. That deep, husky, distinct voice like no other. One of my favourites, from the past, that is, current, too. Encore - for such a melody and immensely soothing lyrics. A Varey Vaah song.
Have a great weekend. Yours truly is looking forward to one, and hopes the same for all of you out there.

Ennathil Edho from Kallukkul Eeram
This is a must post. This song. And, on this day. I have my own reasons.
Life is bewildering, on days. And, enlightening, on others. It was both - today. I do not know. I am dumbfounded - with everything that is transpiring in my life. Very unsettled, I would say. Change - tiny in alphabet counts but enormous in significance. An Unknown Author wrote this, "God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me." Sounded very comforting. What I need in large doses.
This song is from the 80's. A beautiful number. Very seemly for the position I am, today.....

Azhagey Un Mugam from Anthapuram
Some songs catch us unforeseen. This one, for instance. It is a plain but profound piece. I love the lyrics and the happy, catchy feel it brings.
Love reckons hours for months, and days for years; and every little absence is an age. ~John Dryden~
Whatever Dryden quoted in English, this song accounts for in Tamil. Cheers.

Sami Kitta Solli from Daas
Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.
~Florence Scovel Shinn~
I have loads of work to do, but today is such a beautiful one. A national holiday. A drizzly, cold day. The weather here is awesome. And, I am enjoying being sluggish and indolent.
I have been having intuitions - since morning. Strong ones. And, it is mystifying. The palpitations of my heart are unusual. It is, doubtlessly, a bizarre feeling. If only, I could explain. If only, anyone - else, could.
It is still very much around. I am appeasing it by constantly stealing looks at my Lord Tirupathi picture, that sits right by my bedside. He calms and composes me. At all times.
This song has been drumming on my mind since late evening. Nice one. A simple, lucid piece by Yuvan. With stirring lyrics. And effortlessly sung - with deep feelings and sentiments - by Hariharan and Shreya Goshal. This is a repost actually. I have done this song, somewhere last year. But, since it has been sticking like a barnacle on my mind, I want to - again.

Perunthil Nee Ennaku Jannal Oram from Pori
So apt .....
So true .....
I am grinning. All smiles. My heart is laughing - physically silent and thoughtfully blatant. Nijama. Nijama means really, in Tamil. Thanks to this song, that I found unintentionally. I was actually looking at a couple of songs on YouTube, when this one came to attention. Such a beautiful piece that I let slide from my posts. I heard this song the first time, the movie was released. Have it on my playlist, but today, it just glossed my heart, in ways, never before. What-a-song. And, the chemistry between the oh-so-adorably-cute-Jeeva and the petite-and gorgeous Pooja is excellent. Her playfulness scores a big 10. Semma romantic. Semma means very, in casual Tamil. I am smiling - yet again. The video itself is of great taste, candid and all unaffected. I am an ardent fan - of both, the song and the video - and the astonishing lyrics. Wow a thousand times.
I am going to bed. With veiled smiles, a butterfly saturated heart, an orchestra playing this very song and overflowing thoughts of you-know-who.
If you didn't, notice the first four lines of this post ? There are 5 dots before and after "So apt" and "So true". 5 dots. A dot each for an alphabet that spells his name. It is no big secret.
His name is Mogan.
Good night.

Sirpi Sedukaatha from Ethirparathathu (1954)
I am yearning - to write. It is way past midnight. The weather is cold and chilly, thanks to a whole day of rain. A couple of songs, Tamil, of course, are playing, in the background, softly, in the drop dead silence of my bedroom.
It's funny how the littlest things can make you feel larger than life; the right lyrics, the most heartfelt melody, the clearest message. Love. This one is by Alex Gaskarth. I so, agree.
I have heard this song - many years back. Appa used to hum this one, too. At that time, it did not seem so monumental. It does, now, though. The lyrics are moving. Just like what Gaskarth says. Love makes you notice the trivials. The microscopics. Really. It makes you notice the ignored and appreciate the neglected. It brings out the poet in you – spontaneously. Like this song. It has immense and epical lyrics. If only, you understood the depth of this song's Tamil lyrics.
He is on my thoughts all the time. My father. The beautiful moments I shared with him, when he was still around - overwhelm and choke me at times. I miss him. I do. Always will. Happiness was aplenty back then. They are still ample, but the ones my father brought, are up, there, high on the pedestal. Mogan makes me laugh lots, now. Authentic, bona fide laughters. He has been busy with work lately. I understand. I am justifying his hectic duties. I am consoling my pining heart. Love is harder than what we think it is. The lyrics of this song are tailor made for present situation. Every and each word. Tamil words that illustrate my sentiments - perfectly.
I miss my father. I know he is missing me, too. Without a doubt. I think of him all the time. I know he is thinking of me, too - from the heaven, up above.

Adi Aathadi from Kadalora Kavithaigal
This is post 201. I cannot believe I have been this involved, in a blog. Had one, some years back, but deleted it after, like 20 posts or so. I am giving myself a pat on the shoulder.
I rarely blog on weekdays - the laptop and the net, is miles away from my thought. But, if I am here today, then, it is solely, for this lyrics. ( The video is not of my liking, though) Heard this exact words by chance, and, it just brought in a sense of joy. And, IR's deep, throaty voice. Wow.....

If you read Tamil, like yours truly, enjoy the moment the lyrics above come. ..... You will sure, smile.
Have a good night, and continue that smile, into the beginning of the new day. Cheers.
Wow.....

Thaye Thaye from Kaathalar Kudiyirupu
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
~Washington Irving~
Dedicated to my mother. My Goddess Shakthi, in mortal form.
For being there when I needed her most. For accepting me, flaws and all. For bearing all my tantrums, tempers, outbursts and madness. For forgiving me, my misconducts, sins and blunders. For relishing me, just the way I am. For blessing me and always praying and hoping for my very best. Thank you, so very, very much.
I have always been Appa's child. That goes without saying. Everyone knows. Practically, everyone - who know me in person. But these, same 'everyones', do not know some notable things. And, I guess, I need to own up, this Mother's Day.
Amma,
After Appa's passing, you have been my Numero Uno. My mortal Goddess. I pray for you everyday. Pray for your wellbeing and happiness. Pray that you are always save, in the Almighty's arms. Pray that I get called back to the Almighty first. I want to be able to wait for you at the gates of Heaven, with Appa. Seriously and truthfully, I do. You are everything in my life. My pillar of support. The base on which my life is built. I cannot imagine a day without you, in my life. Appa's passing shattered my life. I do not think I will ever be able to bear another. God is listening, and I know, when our prayers are pure and taint-less, He will answer them, accordingly.
Amma,
Thanks for everything. With a love like yours, everyday is Mother's Day.
And, to the rest of the Mothers in the world - Have a blessed life.

Vizhigalile Vizhigalile from Kullanari Kootam
I have finally managed to revamp my blog. As per my liking. It consumed a couple of my hours, and was exhausting and arduous. But, yours truly is pleased with outcome. Hope, you are too.
Watched this movie with my mum and sister, late last night. A wholesome love, comedy and family entertainer. A beautiful attempt.
I am hooked on this song. I fell for its simple melody and fascinating lyrics. It is what my mobile sings, every time I get a call. A calming and appeasing present day love song, that is not to be missed. Give it a try. You will, agree.

Kodi Kodi Aasaigal from Kathalar Kudiyirupu
Time flies. It was just the beginning of another new year, a few days back. And, now, here we are, in the 5th month of the year. We had a longer weekend for Labour's Day, and yet, as said, time flies. Tomorrow comes Tuesday. The start of a new week. Another week, only shorter.
Love. It does wonders. It heals anything. Even when you are deserted and forsaken, love will stay around to nurture and uphold. You just need to believe, and have faith. In God, in love and everything you believe in.
I have a number of songs playing on my mind right now. All - very sentimental Tamil numbers. And, no they did not get rave reviews, from the mass. But, they did bait and charm me, though.
I have requested for the DVD of this movie. Just waiting to get my hands on them. Read that it is based on a true story. Kathalar Kudiyirupu. The review sounded interesting, and so was the trailer.
This song is a current must listen. Sentimental, sweet and soothing. Lyrics are soulful, euphonious and lilting. A "varey-vaaah" song. And, the video clip, is just so natural-but-out-of-world-romantic. Just what a dreamy, mushy and soppy person like yours truly, so very loves.
Good day, mate !
