Oru Kili Oru Kili from Leelai (2012)

Happy Sunday !!!!! And, Happy Mother's Day - to each and every female, in this world.....
And, to my darling Amma - thanks for everything. My heaven remains beneath your feet. God bless you, always.....
Made Amma, and Akka (my second mum), an eggless Suji Cake. It turned out pretty tasty. Amma gave it 8/10. Akka 9/10. Not too bad, I guess. Thanks to a wonderful website titled Sharmi's Passion and my love for cooking.
Tea Time - My cuppa tea and pieces of the Suji Cake
The hot from the oven eggless Suji Cake
The side view - of the eggless Suji Cake.
I have been on my toes - yet again. Been super busy since morning. Wanted to catch forty winks but somehow, household duties got in the way. Weird, but I actually enjoy doing them.
Read a review about the movie from which today's song comes from. Leelai. In fact, I caught a glimpse of it on Sun TV's Top Ten Movies this morning. It was in  fourth place. Looks impressive. Would definitely find a way to watch it and keep you guys updated.
I love this song. And, the way the video has been presented. Done with great taste minus the uproar. Nice.
5 reasons why I chose this song and video clip.
No. 1 - The song. The sentimental flow. The lyrics. Beautiful.
No. 2 - The chemistry and intimacy between the hero and heroine is just amazing. Nothing overboard. Lots of similarity to Alaipayuthey's Snegidhane, noted. Semma romantic.
No. 3 - The heroine and her awesome choice of sarees. The hues and the colours compliment her perfectly. Wow.
No. 4 - The background. Nothing fancy. A fort boarded by the sea. Wonderful. Can someone tell me, where is this? But, India, right?
No. 5 - Every moment in this video rings a "huge" bell.....(yours truly is smiling sheepishly, yet again.....) Every single second of it. Rephrasing. Every single second of it. Nijama, nijama..... (truly, truly). FYI, I awarded Mogan, the Quantum-Leap-from-Workaholic-to-Super-BestFriend-Award, recently. He has yet to be notified. Hahaha. This too, I shall keep you all updated, about.....
Have a great week ahead. See you around. Stay sweet, and safe, ya !!!!!

Thoda Thoda Malarnthathena from Indra

Nothing - and I say, nothing - is as heartening, as home. The place where you can cuddle up comfortably and snuggle down safely. And, I am, finally back to my crash pad. My abode. My sanctuary..... Home sweet home. It is no tough nut to crack, why they call it so.
My toasty bed and fluffy pillows are, close at hand. And, my favourite Maestro, Illayaraja-Ji is crooning, in the background. Heavenly (in simple words) and commodious (bombastically) - is how I am feeling right now.....
There are so many things I want to write about. Issues that I so would like to share and do not want to prorogue.
The recent week (7th to 12th May 2012), was indeed, a hectic and vital one.
And, 7th May 2012, was a Momentous Monday. One that needs to be awarded a stellar star. And distinguished and chronicled as big league day. A he-made-me-roll-in-the-aisle-day. A he-beguiled-and-bewitched-me-day. A he-put-me-under-the-magic-spell-day. A smashing-wow-wow day. Konjum over-aa iruku-leh ? (translation : A little exaggerated, huh?) No - not a drop of amplification or embellishment . Forthright and sincerely - it was, all of above. Plain, beautiful.....
Missed home madly - on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Saturday, quenched the pining. The joy of coming home to loved ones is bewildering. Managed to make Oat Cookies laced with Grounded Coffee, despite being dead tired. It was a sell out during late coffee - at home.
The Oat Cookies - Prior to baking. Oats and cereal dough laced with grounded coffee.
The Oat Cookies - Upon baking. Fresh from the oven and sold out in a jiffy.
The song that keeps playing on my mind. ARR, Vairamuthu, SPB and Chitra. A-cannot-go-wrong-combination.....out

(Vairamuthu sure does have a way with Tamil words.....)

(Vairamuthu....hmmm, does it again.....)

Guess, I need to sign off, now. I am tired, no doubt.

Nil Nil Nil Pathil Sol Sol Sol from Paatu Paada Vaa

Raagamaaliga. I am fascinated by it. Today - it was Episode 449. And, the theme, was "Paadatha Pattellam" which refers to unsung songs. Rare melodies that are often sidelined. There were a few beautiful numbers, that I listened, and like instantly.
This is one of them. From a movie titled Paatu Paada Vaa, this indelible number is a duet between the great IR himself and Uma Ramanan-Ji. What-a-song, what-a-lyrics.
Give this wonderful number a try.... if you haven't. It is flirty and full of tease. A read between the lines one.
p/s - Made a No Bake Biscuit Custard Pudding Cake. Serving it for tea. Cooking has become a growing passion.
The ingredients - Custard Powder, Milk, Biscuits, Coffee, Sugar, & Maple Syrup

Oru Naal Oru Pozhudu from Anthi Manthaarai

Saturday. Household duties inspire me. They spark and spur more, today, the first of the two rest days given. Managed to do a whole lot of stuff since morning. Cleaned up the house - the kitchen (both, dry and wet) to be exact. Gardened. Watered the plants and sowed the revered Thulasi plant. Settled the laundry. And, also made a caramel pudding, which will be served during tea. Phew!!!!!
We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth -Virginia Satir, family therapist-
Hahaha. This came from an article I read. Cannot stop laughing. That is a whole lot of hugs. 24, all. Which makes it a hug every hour - average.  The author ends his article with these words, "It only takes a hug, a heartfelt and warm embrace, to change the lives of others. Try it, it works....." Simple, but altering.....
And, hugging actually benefits, by reducing heart disease, diminishing stress, promoting longevity, strengthening social ties, lowering blood pressure, lowering heart rate and benefiting the hugger and the huggee equally. Cool, isn't it ?
Why all this brouhaha over hugging????? Shalu - smiling sheepishly..... Go figure.
Iman Annachi's program on Adithya Channel will begin in another half an hour or so. I love the way he handles the audience. How he keeps a straight face in the funniest situation. It has since become my favourite show.
This song is a beautiful masterpiece by ARR. Mind blowing lyrics which begin with the awesome, "ஒரு நாள் ஒரு பொழுது உன் மூஞ்சி காண்காமா உசுரு அல்லாடுதே...." This is what I will call my semma situation song.
Go have a great week ahead.....
Take care. God Bless.

Aasaikonda Nenju Pesugindra Podhu from Irumbu Thirai

Happy Sunday morning, folks !!!! (despite it already being 12.15pm, here - and, no, I did not just wake up..... late mornings are not my cuppa).
This post was, rather unintentional. Somehow, this song made me, log in, and push a pencil. I mean, click a keyboard.
This is a super classic from the 1960 Irumbu Thirai. Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram's lyrics, SV Venkataraman's music arrangement and P. Leela- Ma's singing just go hand in hand. A merry song from the golden era.
And, ya, note the coveting lyrics !!!!!
Tuesday, Labour Day, will be a national holiday. That means, this week, will be a 4-day one, again. Yippie. I love holidays.
Holidays mean so many things to me. Unwinding, cooking, gardening, watching a great movie and just chilling out with family and friends. We should all have more of these. Not work. Not climbing the corporate ladder and calculating wages. Life should be more of things that make us happy and rarely of things that make us haywire.
Go enjoy the week !!! I am, too.
Take care, God Bless.

Kooraana Parvaigal from Thoonga Nagaram (Re-Post)

Monsieur Cupid has been extremely generous with me this couple of days. He seems to be striking me continuously.
Realized two things this beautiful week.
One. Valentine’s Day doesn’t just come in February. It also comes in April. I am, living proof.
Two. Valentine’s Day NOT need be JUST ONE DAY. It can be a couple of days. In my case, it was 3, and I am keeping my fingers crossed, it will continue.
I do not need to elaborate who it is that makes me this ecstatic and delirious. Many of my posts are dedicated to him. The one who puts a Cheshire cat grin on my face (….like now…..). I am still in seventh heaven. Still in celestial throne.
My heart keeps singing this particular song. I guess I have posted it before. Somehow, the lyrics just sync with my present situation. Awesome lines by award winning Tamarai. This one is solely, dedicated to -

Yenna Solla Yethu Solla from Manam Kothi Paravai

An unbearably hot day. And, not to mention an awful internet connection day.
Thank God, I get to find some solace in the chilled mango pudding, I made yesterday evening. Heavenly - to my taste buds - as is, the now playing Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know, to my ears.
I made the long due lemon muffins, this morning. Finally. And, they turned out great. Amma, my No.1 connoisseur, said so. She is someone who calls a spade - a spade. You get what I mean? So, I guess, they were all right. She even asked me if I wanted to go for baking classes. They have one, in a bakery nearby, she adds. Hmm.. let me think about it.
Cooking is simply animating. It spruces up that normal day of ours.
I watched Oru Kal Oru Kannadi last night. I thought it was a huge drag and a big let down, in comparison with Siva Manasula Sakthi and Boss Engira Baskaran. This would be, to me, a one time only watch. Unlike the former ones, which I could do a hundred more rounds with.
This is very new song. Something that has yet to catch, much attention. But, it will, once the movie hits the floor. Such an alluring number. One that plays on my mind - unaffectedly. Thanks to its gushing lyrics.
So, that's all for now, I guess.
Have a great week ahead. See you real soon....

Mudiyumenral Padiyaathu from Missiamma

Nine Words Women Use
1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the football before helping around the house.
3. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
4. A Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer quickly to No 9 for the meaning of nothing.)
5. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
6. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot', which is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' - that will bring on No. 7).
7. Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying, something nasty.
8. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to No. 4.
9. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in "Fine".
Hahaha. We, women, ARE indeed hard to understand. But that, makes us.
And, the song for today is all about it.
Of what women say, and what they mean, in Tamil. Guess, we are universal.
Take care, God Bless and have a great week ahead, ya !!!!

Vechalum Vekkama Pogathu from Michael Madana Kama Rajan

Ya - everyone, Happy Tamil New Year !!!!! Today is the birth of Nandana !!!! At 8.18pm, here in Malaysia.....
Guess what ? I got a gift today. Something special. Super special, actually. A beautiful ring. For the New Year.....
My sore throat became worse along the week. The constant dry cough has made me practically, voiceless. I sound like a toad croaking for rain.
Mum had already set her condition for the new year. That, we must be vegetarian. I was, honestly. Throughout - the whole day. It is no big feat for me. I have stayed vegetarian for years. Back while I was in uni. And, yearly, in the month of Purattasi, for the One I so revere, Lord Tirupathi. It is just that I have skipped being a vegetarian on Fridays. Mum is particular about being vegetarian at least once a week, and in our home, it is the day before Saturday.
Mum cooked a feast today. And called in our close relatives to join us for dinner. Right now, I feel like a python in the zoo, which has been fed with two whole buffaloes, and left to rest. This is what I had. Rice and saambar with a bitter leafy vegetable, pumpkin, mint chutney, potatoes, mashed brinjal, mango chutney, Thai styled mango Kerabu, onion vadais, kesari and payasam.
Listening to a weird English song that I am somehow, actually, mesmerized, with. Heard this on American Idol, yesterday. A duet by my 2012 favourite contestant, Philip Philips. The original song was sung by Gotye and features Kimbra.
Need to think of a happy song - befitting the occasion. A flirty one from Michael Madana Kama Rajan.
Did you know that Kushboo's name was Shalini, in this movie ?????
Good night, and Happy Tamil New Year everyone. Lets all stay blessed.

Unnakaaga Ellam Unnakaaga from Puthayal

A super sunny Sunday over here. My sore throat is very much better. Hope it eases off before Monday comes a calling.
http://ummon.wordpress.com/2012/03/11/a-tag/This full of pep blog, is on my reading list. And, today, I came across the blogger's post titled, simply, "Tag". I have a thing for tags. You know, a mild level of fixation. I find them interesting. And, enthralling.
In response to her post, I am going to be lazy, answer her questions and not do anything else.
So, here we go.....
The 11 questions tagged to the blogger
1. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To be able to read another's mind. We always say things we do not intend to. I could save the day (many of days, actually) with this superpower.
2. What was your favourite childhood television program?
Hmmm..... reruns of Alf. I thought that
furry but cute alien, had a lot to say.
3. Have / had any celebrity crushes ?

Of course. Richard Dean Anderson of MacGyver. And, Will Smith. Now, it is Dhanush.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

India. Still. Despite my countless visits there, the infinite country continues to charm me. And Greece (despite the turmoil and financial crisis) and French Polynesia's Bora-Bora Island.
5. Name 1 thing you miss about being a child.

Getting my way with absolutely, everything. I am the youngest and was doted upon. The trick does not work now, though.
6. Name the one comic/book character that you loved the most and why?
But I loved, absolutely loved, books. And one of my favorite characters then was Jo of Little Women - as written by the blogger.

I never read comics. But books, yes. Lots. From Enid Blyton's to Jane Austen's. And, my all time favourite book IS Little Women by Louis May Alcott. And, Jo was my favourite character, too.
7. What is the one thing that you are dying to try but haven’t had a chance to do so yet ?
Moving to India, as in M-O-V-E not V-I-S-I-T. Many people are against the idea and are constantly discouraging me. But, it is what I would love to do but do not have the chance to do, yet.
8. Do you have a role model – someone you want to emulate? Whom do you admire the most?

My father - undoubtedly. For teaching me great life pointers. I so miss him.
9. What do others make of you?
That I am talkative - only, with people I know. I am.
10. Have you ever gotten into a fight or punched someone ?

I am not audacious. Arguments, yes - to prove the point. But fights, none. Punched someone, never. Made a punch ? Ya. A non-alcoholic party punch with pineapples, watermelons, lychees, peaches and oranges. Wink, wink.....
11. For Girls – If you woke up tomorrow to find out you are Brad Pitt, what would be the first thing you’d say upon looking in the mirror???
OMG !!!! I have become Mrs Jolie :-P
The blogger's 11 questions
1. Name the friend you’ve known longest.

Dorathy and Paulina.
2. How did you meet?

In school. From day one.
3. How long have you known him/her?

For ages.
4. Name an embarrassing crush, one you would hesitate to accept in public. But will now.

Cannot remember of one...... (slyly)
5. A man/woman from history you would have proposed to.

A.M Rajah - the South Indian singer with the honey sweet voice. Had he said yes, would have made him sing to me every night without fail. Hahahaha.....
6. Name an international city that you feel is over-rated.
Hong Kong. Noisy and bustling to the brim. Definitely, over-rated.
7. An Indian dish that is over-rated.

The tandoori. We have got so many other great food.
8. What do you think of same sex marriage?

A BIG No-No. Weird.
9. Reality shows are:……………..

The 'in' thing now. We are all hooked on them.
10. Designer clothes are:……………

For people who have too much of money and do not know how to finish them. Apologies, Oscar De La Renta and Karl Lagerfeld, for designing them. :-P
11. Illayaraja or A R Rahman?

Illayaraja, Illayaraja, Illayaraja (and echoing......)
This was nice, wasn't it?
I am letting you know superficial stuff about me. Great starters, right ?
Amma is calling me to have tea.
Take care, God Bless and have a great week ahead.....

Oru Thadavai Sollvaaya from Vaseegara

Happy Saturday, everyone !!!!!
Did log in last night to write a new post - but, argh, the internet connection was unbelievably bad. Thank God, though, that it is kinder now.
Yours truly is down with a dreadful sore throat. Months since I had one which was this harsh. But, will be visiting the doctor in the next few hours, so I guess all will be well.
Was supposed to go watch "3". Again. For the third time, with my closest girl friends. Marred by the pharyngitis, however.
The coming week will be a four day one. The new King' s coronation comes this Wednesday, thus another national holiday. Yippie !!! And, the Tamil New Year, - Nandana - welcomes itself this Friday. Wonderful, isn't it ?????
Song for the day. The lyrics go, " ஒரு தடவை சொல்வாயா , உன்னை எனக்குப் பிடிக்கும் என்று, ஒரு பார்வை பார்ப்பாயா, உன்னை எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் என்று?????"
See ya around !!!!!

Oru Jeevan Alaithathu from Geetanjali

Just finished watching the highly anticipated Dhanush-Shruthi starring, "3". Came out of the theaters, pleased and content. It was, indeed, a great watch. A normal love story, with the regular ups and downs - but, with a twist, in the form of an untouched subject, in Tamil cinema.
I loved the movie, regardless of what the critics say......
I adored the motorbike scene in the movie. A folksy and free spirited moment that tugged my heart, tightly. And, the back ground music that followed those moments. Argh... so, super, sweetly, romantic... Oh, as I would say, "Semma, semma  romantic....."
I am expected to be free this weekend. Free as in not out and about. Free as in at home and lounging around. I do have a-to-do-things, though. Baking muffins and a simple coffee cake, some amateur sewing, gardening, finishing my Lauren Oliver's Delirium, downloading some great old songs that have been playing on mind lately, doing a collage for my Facebook Timeline and the routine weekend stuff like laundry, cleaning etc etc etc.
Mum is great cook. And, she bakes, wonderfully. I get most of my tips from her. She will be chaperoning me. Am thinking of vanilla, lemon, butter and ginger for the muffins. Hmmm.... cooking is a little tiring but a great way to unwind, especially when the recipe turns out just the way you want it to and topped up with compliments.
Guess I need to hit the sack. Tired. And, the internet connection is very much slow.
Good night, sweet dreams.....

Poo Pookum Osai from Minsara Kanavu

And, I am back. At last. After being MIA for quiet a while. Blame it on work and the super busy weekends. My posts for March are numbered. Apologies.
The weekend that passed by - was the same. Had a blast with my girlfriends. A great weekend with lots of food and blocks of fun.  You would never be able to sum the amount of laughter we had..... Argh - I so miss the last three days. If only we could all have that "rewind" button just like our DVD players....
Can you believe that April is just a week away ? No laughing matter that time ACTUALLY flies.
April - Our Tamil New Year. 13th this time around. Looking forward to a wonderful celebration - eagerly. Hope the Almighty has sweet, great things in store for me - as well as for each and every one of you. What is life, if there is no sharing. Correct ??
I am signing off for now. But, will sure be back this Friday night, 30th March. I would have 4 days to think of an evergreen. One which most of us have stopped to think or hum of.....
Have a beautiful week, ya !!!
This one is for my awesome gal-pals......

Inji Iduppazhagi from Devar Magan

The week went by delightfully. With special utterance for 5th and 7th of March. Thanks to - you know who.....
The rainy season is back, here, in Malaysia. Sungai Petani, my hometown, as well, as Penang Island, both, have been experiencing, heavy downpours, practically every day. It is a blessing, actually. The weather is cool and uplifting.
I slept a little longer this Saturday morning. Felt like doing so. Despite, the rays of the gorgeous sun, seeping through my window panes, aptly trying to wake me up. Weekends are my favourite. It is great to sit back and enjoy the day - without having to drain the brain way too much.....
Went out with my girl friends for dinner last night. It was a blast. We had a big dinner - accompanied with large doses of laughter. Fish Fillet Carbonara, Tom Yum Mee, Claypot Chicken Rice, Rojak, Watermelon Juice, Barley as well as a large cup of Ice Kacang, as dessert. If you are clueless about the food mentioned, do google for images - you should be able to get the picture, of what a humongous dinner we had.....
Signing off for now....
Will write about the beautiful moments some other day - when a great situation song comes in mind - befitting the spell he put me into.....
For now, this is my song for the day.... For my கள்ளச் சிரிப்பழகா..... Mogn....

Oru Vaarthai Solla from Ayya

Happy March everyone..... Three days since the birth of  third month of the year.....
Went shopping with best best buddy and my ardent ally - my sister. Today, it was fabric hunting. Felt like an episode of Project Runway. You know, the part where the aspirant designers shop for materials. I did, exactly that. Waded through the miles and miles of gorgeous textile, with ideas, constantly popping. Loved the spirit it put me in. Ended up buying 2 meters each of magenta Hideaki Japanese Soybean Dobby Collection Fabric, a red and black Napoli Fabric as well as four pieces of 2 meter remnants (which were 'all' great buys...).
Headed to the tailor's right after, and placed orders, for all 6 pieces.... Yippie !!! Yippie !!! Yippie !!! For six new sets of salwar kameez tops that I will be owning at the end of the month...... And yes, I have - become - a salwar kameez addict..... The attire has bowled me over.....
Signing of - want to go make dinner. Something simple and light. It is nearly ten, now.
Take care. God Bless. And, stay glowingly, happy !!!!!
p/s - 28th February's Tuesday morning will always remain significant to me..... He rarely uses my name - but did so, that morning. "Shall-Nee...." he calls as I walk. I turn around, to see him give me that larger than life look. "Thanks..." he continues. I smile, and say, "You are welcome..." He makes me walk on air. It's a feeling I cannot describe in words..... The closest, would be - ecstatic.....

Naanaga Naanillai Thaaye from Thoongaathe Thambi Thoongathe

It’s Amma’s birthday – today. And, I wish her all the happiness, prosperity and good health in the world. I pray – with all my heart – for her wellbeing. She, is, after all, my heaven sent goddess.
Amma is a rare gem. She prefers BBC than Sun TV’s mega serials. American Idol than Tamil movies. Sudoku than the local news. Cycling than hopping on the car. Brisk walking than being a couch potato. She loves to read, watch the National Geographic Channel, enjoys science and educational documentaries, knows in and out about American politics and encourages healthy cooking.
Amma claims to dislike cooking - despite being a Home Science teacher. And, yet cooks up a storm, for us, practically, every other day. Our daily dinner is always with two helping of vegetables (one leafy), a protein based dish as well as a platter of fruits. She also alternates soup or porridge, five days a week. On days when she is a little more hype, we also get great home made desserts.
I was never close to Amma – until Appa’s untimely passing. Her sacrifices during that testing moments were humongous. Right now – she rules every bit of my life. I would not be where I am today, without her love, support and encouragement. I am glad – she is my mum – mine - and not someone else’s.
We, Hindus believe in reincarnation. So do, I. And, if I were to be reincarnated, how many lives come may, I want her as my mother. Only her. No one else…..
A mother is flawless. Mine is, too. I wish her a great Birthday, this 2012…..
Amma, God Bless ya – always and forever…..

Valayosai from Sathya

It's a hot Sunday afternoon. I do not want to take a cat nap. Not just due to the humid climate but also to the fact that I have lots of chores to do. Mum dearest has gone to visit her sister and niece in Sabah, East Malaysia. She will be back on Wednesday night. Till then, I am - house manager.. (with a sly smile) ..
My passion with the salwar kameez seems to be flourishing by the day. Blame it on - age. Traditional clothes rule my life - now. Gone are the days, when I thought the baby tee and the skinny jeans were hip and chic. All I want to get more of, nowadays, is nothing, but the salwar kameez. My vacation to India, this time around, is definitely, going to have lots (and lots) of shopping events.
Yesterday, I bought four more pieces of them. Salwar kameez. Four ? Ya. In a day ? Ya.
I am - unashamedly - crazy about them. My sister says it is to some extent, a waste of money. I beg to differ. Purchasing them gives me a sense of happiness. And, having them fit me perfectly, makes me simply, ecstatic.
Cooked lunch. A moderately spicy sardine dish with steam vegetables and an iced tall glass of grass jelly and pomegranates. (Thinking of something simple for tea...)
Signing off for now..... May the week ahead be a great one.....
Take care & God Bless !!!!!

p/s - attached are pics of the lunch I prepared as well as the four new pieces of salwar kameez that I bought yesterday... the black, purple and grey were purchased a month ago.....

Aaththadi Manasuthan from Kazhugu

My 23rd February morning was - flawless. Thanks to his presence - right, beside me, for an entire journey. He is fond of teasing me. He relishes it. The twinkle in his eyes and the significance of his smile - give him away. Every time, he says something fanciful, his eyes undeniably search mine, for a reaction. The moments were magical and magnificent, courtesy of the many read-between-the-lines-conversations. Have been reminiscing it, since the moment we parted.....
I, so, adore him.....
This song (especially the Tamil lyrics in bold.....) is for the guy who stole my heart BIG time, this early morning.....
.....Mog♥n.....

Pattampoochi Kooppidum Podhu from Kavalan

Today - 17th February - is rated - ♥♥ - thanks to that robust but sugary voice that greets me at 10.25am..... with obviously, sweet nothings..... (Oh, Thank You, Almighty.....)
Friday evenings take the edge of weekdays. And the two days, that follow, are plain heavenly - especially when home is sanctuary.....
Went out with a close gal pal for an early dinner. Just the two of us this time, as the other one was out on a date. We are planning a weekend island getaway. She is organizing. The two of us are chipping in with ideas and all. So far, the plans are going smoothly. Keeping our fingers crossed, as we have been planning this for a few months now.
These particular lines are replaying on my mind..... this moment.....
Good day, all.....

Malarodu Nilavukku from Dear Son Marudhu

Hello everyone.....
I am - back - after, a short interim.....
Busy. As a bee. Really. Life is trotting - beautifully.
Another awesome Saturday over here. Except for the intensely humid weather.
Hot as in H-O-T. Even the effortless breeze seems to have gone on a vacation. Hoping the weather changes in days to come. I miss the rain - so very much.
Had dinner out with family. My brother joined us today, so there was a more than usual amount of talking. You know - family stuff and updates.
Relationships..... How important they are in our lives.
Tomorrow is going to be another occupied Sunday. Chances are that I will not be able to post. Advance apologies. Next weekend - definitely.....
I love this song. It has an honest, poignant feel.
Signing off for now with this unfeigned lines.....
".....ஏதேதோ வார்த்தை சொல்லி,
என் அன்பை வேறு கில்லி,
கண்ணுக்குள் அம்பு தைக்கலாமா....."
Oops - Mr Cupid's big day comes this Tuesday. Correct? He's going to use lots of his arrows - so stand in line, and get your heart struck. Love, is truly, beautiful.
So - Happy Valentine's Day - each and everyone of you.....
Take care & God Bless.....

Unnai Naan Parkaiyil from Kannukoru Vannakili

I have been down with flu and a mild sore throat, for the past two days. Went to bed real early last night - thanks to the doctor's prescription that made me all sluggish and dopey. I am - however, bouncing back, slowly but steadily.
Yippie. Again. For the stretch of the weekend. Not just this Saturday and Sunday, but Monday and Tuesday, as well. Four days of mellowing out. I adore the ample Malaysian holidays.
Thaipusam comes this Tuesday. My hometown has become bustling and busy - for the celebrations, which start on Monday and end on Wednesday.
Till then, listen to this lovely number from the great KJY.
Cheers from Shalu !!!!!

Idhaya Vaanin Udaya Nilave from Parthiban Kanavu

Happy February !!!!!

So, here I am, on yet another weekday..... An exempted Wednesday night, indeed.
Tomorrow is not - routine. An offbeat one - rather.
Accompanying my sister for a medical check up. Sisterhood is about sharing and sacrificing, for one another. And, she, is after all, my closest buddy. My all motherly, sibling.....
Also, on the cards, is :-
♥ an early Indian breakfast at a posh Indian restaurant, 20 minutes drive from home
♥ a trip to a boutique selling churidhars and sarees
♥ a run to the bank, and
♥ a hop to the shopping mall
Hoping for all the plans to be carried out - in time.....
A few days back, in a program on TV, South Indian songbird, P. Suseela-Ji sang a few lines from this song. Hooked and hyped, I became.....
A serenading musical arrangement by Vedhpal Varma, with awesome lyrics by Vindhan. This masterpiece was sung by P. Suseela and A.M Raja.....
Tamil is such an intensely romantic and poetic language..... (read : lines in bold and pink)

Superrrrrrrrrrrrrr, isn't it ?????
Good night, folks !!!!!

Swasathil Theeyai from Unnodu Oru Naal

~For Mogn~

Ya - that's EXACTLY how I am right now. A வாசல் தூண். A pillar who waits in silence and with patience - at the entrance of the home - for the return of its owner.....
I got up at the break of dawn - with thoughts of him. Him, that I so miss. Not as much as what I miss Appa - but lots as in lots, lots - for someone who does not share a biological relationship with me.....
I miss his intense stares. I miss his warm smile. I miss cheeky wink. I miss his artful teasing. I miss his simplicity and coy. I miss his voice and that loud, hearty laughter. I miss him holding my hands. I miss - everything - about him.
It feels better now that I have penned all these down. He is someone who works hard and diligently. There is littlest chance of him reading this. Mushy feelings is not his cup of tea. But fret not (I am telling myself), at least people who stop by to read this will. Right ? That itself is cheer and comfort.....
One day, when he, eventually, stops by my blog, reads this post and sees the picture of these tea lights, he will know - how much he means to me and will continue to. Love, after all, is patient and protects, trusts, hopes and always perseveres.
I am listening to this beautiful number from a yet to be released movie titled Unnodu Oru Naal. Chinmayi blows my mind. The songs lyrics tingle my spine. Wowwww.... What-A-Song ??? Unequivocally for my present situation. My sentimental soup song.....
Going out for lunch, with Amma and Akka. Everything returns to norm, tomorrow. The long weekend bids goodbye, this evening.....
Take care, God Bless.
Appa - Miss ya like crazy..... Mog♥n - You too.....(and this song is all for you).....
See ya around !!!!!
With lots of ♥,
~Shalu~

Veliooru Kiliye from Kollaikaran

Ni hao !!!! That's hello in Mandarin. Befitting the Chinese Lunar New Year that falls tomorrow.
The weekend in about to end, but I am not sweating. It is a long weekend, for us, Malaysians. National holiday is until Wednesday, the 24th of January 2012. So, I have two more days. Cool, right ???
Spent the first two days of the weekend, just unwinding and taking a big breather, at my favourite sanctuary - home.
I would love to revamp and spruce up my blog. High time, I guess. Did try the new Timeline by Blogger, but that would mean, I have to let go of a few stuff that I so want to have. So, I am still in the midst of it. Planning and blueprinting.
I need to thank Philo Farnsworth for making the world's first working television system with electronic scanning of both the pickup and display devices. I watched (the reason why I need to thank Farnsworth) and heard this song on Sun Music, last night, on a show called, "Paatu Puthusu". A few lines grabbed my attention..... and the rest, they say is history.....
A peppy number, that tugged my heart with its "semma" lyrics..... It is on replay on my IPod at present time..... Hooked, crazily is the word..... Give it a try..... You might, too.....
Till I sign in again - Gong Xi Fa Cai..... Lets welcome the Water Dragon!!!!!

Mannipaaya from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya

Ya. It is me. Me. Me. And, all me. On a - weekday!!!! Unheralded.
The days have been dreadfully hectic. I am zealously looking forward to Friday evening. For two main reasons. First - for a date with my closest girlfriends. We last met up before New Year. It is nearing the end of January, so a get together would be perfect. Second - for an awesomely, long weekend - thanks to the Chinese New Year celebrations. Life shall return to norm on Wednesday, the 25th of January. Till then, yours truly will enjoy her days unwinding and doing as she pleases......
Good night. God Bless!!!!!
Shalu - signing off, for now.....
This song did not ring a bell to me, then. Then - when - everyone was raving about it. It is NOW, though. Of circumstance and coincidence. Of destiny and detail. Of scene and status. Of thing and time.....
For him, and him only.....

Asku Laska from Nanban

"தை பிறந்தால் வழி பிறக்கும்"
“The Lord Who is true to His devotees” Near Cuddalore, South Arcot District, Tamil Nadu
Happy Ponggal, everyone !!!!! The day started real early for me. Our sweet ponggal, a rice dish  boiled with milk and jaggery, boiled and overflowed around 8.52am, with its first spill, facing the east - the most influential cardinal point. Auspicious, I believe. And, a sign of optimism. It is, after all, where, the sun rises, doesn't it ? The rising of a sun is usually equaled to a new beginning. Ponggal, is too. The birth of the Tamil month of Thai. The month, that we Hindus believe would bring us a lot of good opportunities and great fortune.
I read his SMS around 11.28am - after prayers and breakfast. It was received around 9.56am. I reply, immediately. ஆருவம்... they would say, in Tamil. Meaning, enthusiasm.
"It's faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes a life worth living," quotes Oliver Wendell Holmes. So agree.....
I thank God for everything. This blessed life.....
Again - Happy Ponggal, all !!!!!

Po Nee Po (Remix) from 3 (Moonu)

Good morning folks !! Today is Bogi or Bhogi  - the day before Pongal. Celebrated in honor of Lord Indra, "the God of Clouds and Rains", worshiped for the abundance of harvest, thereby bringing plenty and prosperity to the land. On Bhogi all people clean out their homes from top to bottom, and collect all unwanted goods. This day is meant for domestic activities and of being together with the family members.... and that is EXACTLY what I want to do!!!!!
I got my heart broken during the week. Still, in somewhat disintegrated shape. It crumbles every time, I muse over that precise moment..... 10th January 2012.
I know he never meant to hurt me, and vice versa. We have both apologized since that unpleasant occasion. Right now - silence and still - is what remains, between us.....
This is the song that blasts in my room - at this very moment - on replay and maximum volume. It has been for the past few days. My Tamil heavy metal tranquilizer. The one that drives my current pain away. The one that appeases my present cluttered stated of mind......
To him - Sorry, from the depth of my heart.
I am walking away.....

Yeah... I am walking away.....

Kannadichi Yaarai Neeyum from Manthira Kumari

Note : This has been scheduled to be posted on Thursday morning......
Most of us would be upset if we were accused of being "silly." But the word "silly" comes from the old English word "selig," and its literal definition is "to be blessed, happy, healthy and prosperous."
-Zig Ziglar-
Happiness, they say, is a mental state of well-being characterized by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Agree.
Life would be aimless if vivacity was absent. Happiness is more meaningful than all those material possessions. You can never buy 'real' happiness with that big, fat bank account, right ?
So, lets all be happy today. As, we should tomorrow, the day after and the remaining days of our life.....
This is a super peppy number. Just listening to it would make you smile, and instill some level of mystical happiness in the nooks of your heart. Really. Give it a try, ya!!
"கண்ணடிச்சி யாரை நீயும் ??" the song starts.....
Hahaha.... I am wearing a silly grin. His winks, in "cycle gap", as he put it, comes to mind.
This song is definitely not about him. He is adorably cute. As in, A-D-O-R-A-B-L-Y C-U-T-E
It's such a funny song. The reason, I chose it.
Enjoy, as I am.....
One more day to go before my favourite Friday arrives.....and two, before the Tamil month of Thai signs in.....
Keep smiling - happily.....
Like the quote above, from Ziglar, I do not mind being called silly, as long as I am happy !!!!! So, come join me. Lets be happily silly. :-P

Kaayile Inippadenna from Manamulla Maruthaaram(1958)

Note : This has been scheduled to be posted on Tuesday morning......
I love old songs. Thanks to Appa - for serenading me with loads of them from the very first day he held me in his arms.....
The term 'வாயாடி' shows up in a line in this song. 'வாயாடி' - meaning talkative. Or chatty, gabby and plain loquacious. One of Appa's favourite pet name, for me. Besides, his favourite, 'கண்ணமா' or Kannamah.....
My monikers, that only nearest and dearest, are aware of - but, right now, being flaunted to the rest of the universe.....
The lyrics from this song are written by A. Maruthakasi. If you are someone from my generation, there is high chance that you do not know him. I , too, would have not known him, if not for Appa. Every time he was in his happy moods, he used to sing and hum the jolly Chinnakutti Naatanaa, sung by Trichy Loganathan. This lively number's lyrics were written by A. Maruthakasi.
I miss Appa. Lots, lots and lots.....
Take care. God Bless !!!

Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthal from 7G Rainbow Colony

Note : This has been scheduled to be posted on Monday morning......

Me coming online on weekdays - is out of question. Days are too hectic. Chores come like avalanche. Writing is something that I love and hold close to heart. Alike reading, gardening, sewing and cooking - which also need time investment.
I have been in missing mode - since the birth of the new year. Miss, as in pine and yearn.
My Appa, being the one I miss most. I so, wish he was around. Life would have been far simpler and totally unmarred.....
I also, miss the one, who reminds me so much of Appa. His diligence and hardwork, startle me. I do get to listen to his voice, every now and then, but that's about it. I wish we could spend some time together. I really, do.....
Chennai City. I so, so miss. The place where my soul resides. Hanging out by Elliot Beach, on a full moon day, after an evening visit to the Asthalakshmi Temple. Drinking freshly squeezed Pomegranate juice with ice, near Deenadayalan Street. A drive along ECR during sunrise. Shopping for sarees and churidhars at Panagal Park. Watching a good movie at Satyam's. Lunch at Anjappar's..... The list goes on.....
My trips to the beach - here, in Penang. It has been months since I walked along one - despite wanting very much to. Weird. Here I am, living my days on an island, which as we all know, is surrounded by water, and yet, not finding time to go to the nearest oceanfront.
And, so many other things.....

A Must Watch & Poovaikkaelu from Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai

Call me sentimental. Call me emotional. Or gushy, dreamy, moonstruck, nostalgic or, even jejune. I do not mind.
I love this scene. I had tears rolling down my cheeks, watching it.
It struck me - precisely. A love scene - so unlike any other. I searched high and low for this on YouTube, right after the movie, but without avail. And, by happy chance, I stumbled on it today.
Do give it a shot. For the fascinatingly, unusual love confession.....

Chosen song for today due to these particular lines.....

Have a great week ahead..... Mine is expected to be super busy, just like the last..... Take care. God Bless.

Yennayidhu from Mounaguru

Happy Belated New Year everyone !! My wishes are a little late, I know, but, isn't it better to be late than never ?? Hope the year started with a big bang for each and everyone of you, and will continue to prosper until the next one arrives.
The week was hectic. The thought of writing a short post did emerge every now and then. Unfortunately, thoughts remained thoughts. Pragmatism failed.
It has been a beautiful Saturday over here. The moderately sunny and extremely windy kind-of-one. It is 35 past 5 in the evening now. Amma's freshly brewed milk tea is minutes away. If Popeye's was spinach, this is mine. Homemade boost.
Watched this movie during my New Year weekend. A good one, that is definitely on my 2011 recommendation list.
Cheers !!! See ya around, REAL SOON :-P
